It’s undeniable; children are unquestionably different from adults. From their personalities and mannerisms, all the way down to their physiology and even their anatomy, children are unique. What’s more is that they’re always growing and changing. These changing bodies are what generate the need for personalized therapeutic interventions, adapted for the developing child.
Pediatric Physiotherapy in Mumbai is a broad term for the treatment of babies, toddlers, children, and youth from 0-18 years of age by specially trained therapists. Dr. Vigil’s Physiotherapy is proud to provide personalized physiotherapy services to pediatric clients.
What do we treat under Pediatrics Physiotherapy?
For a list of common pediatric conditions treated please visit our Pediatric Conditions page.
What does a visit look like?
All treatment begins with an hour-long assessment in one of our private treatment rooms. During this time, we will discuss your child’s medical history, their needs, create goals, and perform a full assessment of range, strength, balance, and whatever else may be relevant to your child’s condition. From these findings, a personalized treatment plan is created and reviewed in detail with your therapist, who will answer any questions you may have.
All subsequent treatments will last 30 minutes and will be spent one on one with your child’s therapist providing treatment. No machines, no assistants, no switching therapists. Our one-on-one hands on treatments allow you and your child to build a trusting relationship with your therapist to provide the best quality treatment possible.
What might we work on?
Following our assessment of your child’s condition, a personalized treatment plan will be created specifically for them. This treatment plan will involve hands-on treatment on behalf of our physiotherapist as well as exercises and activities to perform at home. Depending on the relevance to your child’s condition and needs, treatment may include work targeted towards:
What’s my role as a parent?
As a parent or guardian, you play an integral role in providing and ensuring the effective treatment of your child’s condition. Together, you and your physiotherapist will discuss and determine goals, review outcome measures, and track progress of your child’s condition. Depending on your child’s age and needs, you may need to assist them with their home exercise programs.
Is it covered?
Physiotherapy may be covered for you and your dependants under your personal health plan. A doctor’s referral isn’t necessary to book an appointment to see a physiotherapist, however, some health plans require a doctor’s referral in order to have the costs reimbursed. Check with your health plan to see what’s covered and required for you.
